Major Update

Changed spell slot to "Leader Slot"

- This game is finally seeing integration with its RPG overworld side (although you can't see it in this battle preview). Players can now pick up cards in the overworld and they appear in the collection. (all cards are unlocked for this preview). Also, the spells have been changed to Leaders, essentially the figurehead for your deck! Leaders will have effects and the player's effect is able to be changed, so you will still be able to get a nice passive to suit your playstyle. But now you can see what opponent you're up against and see their dialogue during a fight!


Slime Queen changed to King Slime and Slime Queen is now a Leader 

- this was because Slime Queen felt much better as a Leader than just another card.


Balance changes

- Balancing is a high priority for this project, but it's been a little tough as the AI only has one deck right now, and to make sure the game is balanced requires creative use of the cards in the collection to see if there's any broken strats or just weak useless cards (not Ratt tho). For these reasons, the game needs more people to test it before it can be called balanced for sure, so please bare this in mind, the game will be updated if changes are needed.  :)  

Strangle Weed has its effect changed from "deal 2 damage" to "deal damage equal to the number of cards in your hand" to enemies in the back row. - This made play order something to think about whilst making this card better and more interesting as it can clear small monster, weaken strong ones or is useless if you don't build your deck with enough draw!

BlackCat Archer got +1 attack - this felt necessary to compete with "Strangle Weeds"  for back row clearing, and so that the cat can counter with the new card "Long Shot Slime"

Dark Slime Dragon got +2 attack - This big boy just wasn't devastating enough. ):]

Healing Bear got +2 hp and his effect changed to deal 5 damage to a friendly monster when summoned, or if none were damaged, 3 damage to the next monster your summon instead. - this was a big one because healing bear has gone from broken to weak and I don't want to leave him for dead. So by changing his effect from "Kill a friendly monster" to just damage them, it makes him much more viable.

Early Bird got -1 attack and +1 health - This bird was doing too much damage in some situations and not living long enough in others. This felt like the right thing to do, now you have to combo it with another attack buffing card to make them work as well as they used to!

Dev comments-

With the big changes coming the game is feeling more and more like an RPG, and soon the overworld will be playable and hopefully this demo can be completed and put up for a Kickstarter so it can see full development. Thanks to everyone who's helped test it so far, there will be a few more Itch.io posts with the combat system up to test before the demo is complete and the game can move on.
